Excerpts
We arrived in Rome late in the day - but not too late to start sight-seeing.

First up: the Spanish Steps.

This is the church at the top of the steps, the Trinita dei Monti.

Another view of the Trinita from the steps.

The Spanish Steps aren't just a thing to look at. They're a meeting place - a very crowded meeting place.
We were there in October. I can't even imagine this in the summer!

At the bottom of the Spanish Steps is the Piazza di Spagna, and the Colonna dell' Immacolata.

From the Spanish Steps it was on to the Trevi Fountain.

For all the pictures I'd seen of the Trevi Fountain,
I had no idea that it was built to look as if it had "grown" out of the building.

Of course, you're supposed to toss a coin into the fountain, so I did.

What they don't tell you is that it's a mob scene, so getting to the fountain isn't easy.

Wanna see (and hear) what it's really like?

Follow me.

We ended the day with a great meal. The next day, it was the Vatican, St. Peters, the Colosseum and the Forum.
