After leaving Assisi, we headed to Viterbo, another medieaval city.
The Cathedral of San Lorenzo
Viterbo also posts a papal palace built in the middle ages.

This is the papal palace from a distance.

Here I am waving at the papal palace.

This is a close-up of those arches.
Beautiful, eh?
But there are more medieval buildings to be seen:


Palazzo Farnese

Torre del Borgognone
and as you can see, people still live in it.

I don't know what this is,
but this shows you what much of Italy is like:
old and new, together.

Shortly before our visit, the current pope held an outdoor service in Viterbo. He conducted the service from that building in the field.

From Viterbo, it was on to Rome.
